Chris Swanson
Music Legacy
Chris died unexpectedly on Saturday,
May 26th. Chris attended Skip-A-Long
throughout his childhood and returned as a teacher after graduation from
college. He was an inspiring teacher for hundreds of school-aged youth who
attended Skip-A-Long. He was passionate about music and introduced Skip-A-Long
students to all forms of genres of music. He was an innovative teacher who
brought music and technology into his classroom to make the learning
experience more interesting for his students. He also worked closely with students
to develop their computer skills. Chris was also a part-time local
disc jockey for the Saturday Night Request Show on Q106.5. As a way of honoring Chris's love of
music, Skip-A-Long has established a "Music Legacy" program that
will endeavor to bring musicians to the center for programs, instruction, and
enjoyment. In addition, Skip-A-Long will purchase musical instruments as
needed for the school age students to use while at the center. This program
will be sustained by private contributions, center funds, and the annual
Little Bogey's golf tournament funds. Donations can be mailed to Skip-A-Long
Moline Campus, New Address for Home Network Our Home Network has a new main office and phone number: Phone: (309) 764-8192 Business Buddies We are excited to announce our first Business Buddies partnerships! KJWW Engineering and Estes Company and LinguiSystems and The Business Buddies Program was created to bring together area
employers and Skip-A-Long sites. Once an area employer “adopts” a
campus, the children make visits to “their” company to sing
holiday songs or distribute hand-made art projects, and employees visit
“their” Skip-A-Long campus and read to the children, or help with
parties or special events. Employees can take satisfaction in knowing they are helping build
stronger children, families, and strengthening the community, while supplying
needed volunteers to help Skip-A-Long achieve their mission of providing
affordable child care to working parents, and preparing children for success
in school. Current openings Moline Campus has openings for 3-5
